Current Hobbies: Not eating vegetables.
Future Occupation: Scurvy patient
Favorite phrase: "Waaaz that?"
My favorite response: "Not a vegetable!"
How do you get your youngins to eat veggies?
'Cause this 11-month-old insists on feeding herself ... and so far green beans, corn, edamame, bell peppers, carrots, and peas are not on her menu.
Ideas?

DECEPTIVELY DELICIOUS
Sneaky Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Foods
by Jessica Seinfeld
Also, try, try again! We finally discovered my daughter's love for broccoli and zucchini of all things (prepared super soft of course)
Last night I made fries...with sweet potatoes!
Cut sweet potatoes or yams into fry-like sizes. Toss with olive oil and season salt and/or kosher salt. Broil 8" away until done.
Veggies are overrated!
Actually I blend broccoli up and mix it in mashed potatoes.
Liam falls for it everytime.
I make a potpie that my daughter loves it has corn, peas and carrots and is covered in heavycreamchickenbrothflour mixture and she couldn't really see the veggies. She gobbled them up. Dr. Praegers veggie pancakes, they are delish.
Sophie has recently decided against all those veggies too, but she does like cooked broccoli (hold your breath while changing THAT diaper though - WOW), and yesterday she ate some canned sweet potatoes. And of course potatoes, but I don't know if that counts. Oh, and she likes grilled onions.
i know nothing about feeding a baby... but i know that little miss dub is adorable and should visit her aunt and uncle in spain!
Like those above, I say disguise them anyway you can. My oldest is a non-veggie eater, so I made lots of things like "squash or zucchini muffins" and lots of blending up veggies and sticking them in spaghetti sauce and under the cheese on "cheese" pizzas, etc. I think some kids just come with picky palates...my son has a list of 15 items on his "will eat" list while my daughter eats every food known to man and loves them. She ate spicy salsa at a young age and would cry if we took it away. Weird.
This won't help until she's older, but my kids love to dip things. Carrots & lettuce & tomatoes in Ranch, broccoli (cooked) in "broccoli sauce," anything possible in ketchup, meatloaf sauce on mashed potatoes & peas, etc. Also letting them salt & pepper their veggies helps too. My kids are all pretty thin so I think it's okay to have a good helping of Ranch dressing along with their very healthy veggies & salads.
Honestly, I am too lazy to disguise stuff for my kids. When Jackson went through his no-veggie stage, I just gave him more fruit. However, he did get back on the veggie bandwagon before any child services or scurvy showed up. He always did eat soups or tomato sauces with veggies, though. And as mentioned before, broccoli mashed potatoes are delish.
she might be too young for this, but i used to pretend my broccoli were mini trees for the elfs.
I am having the same problem and bad. My little girl won't touch any veggie. So, I got online and looked for hints from others. Some that I found that are helpful are:
- shred carrots and add to mac-n-cheese
- chop veggies like broccoli and add to scrambled eggs
- Naked Juice Green Machine (found at Costco) - has all sorts of good veggies and tastes like juice
- add chopped veggies to ranch since my daughter licks the ranch off anything.
Good luck! But don't feel too discouraged because kids still live through these picky stages and I think if we just keep trying that it will be ok.
well, even though I don't have the same problem (I just discovered that my 14 month son LOVES broccoli and salmon of all things, and will eat pretty much anything except green beans), but i have a friend whose son will not eat veggies. Again, she might be too young for this, but this is great for when they can chew, you can buy these fruit snack things at whole food stores, and one or two is the equivilant of 2-3 servings of veggies, you can get them in fruit too. They are of course all natural and basically just fruits and veggies in a gummy form, you know how kids love all things gummy. And the best part is that they are really good. I tried them. I can't remember the brand, but I will find out for you!
I was watching Regis & Kelly the other day and she has a friend that makes desserts out of veggies...like brownies that have spinach and carrots in them and you can't even tell. She is going to be on the show and has a cook book so I'm sure you can find her on their website. Good Luck
