Be cool, my babies!

Like, I totally forgot to mention that Mr. Dub and I had the amazing opportunity Friday to attend a taping of Conan O'Brien while he was here in Chi-town. A work friend got standby tickets, but since she was tying the knot the next day, she decided she couldn't make it. So Mr. Dub and I ditched work and school and headed out into the unseasonably cold weather to wait in line for a chance to be in the presence of our favorite talk show host ... (followed by Jon Stewart and David Letterman).

After a really long El train and subway ride -- FYI: take the Metra instead because it's 4 stops versus 18 despite the convenient location of the station -- an hour or more in line, lots of second-hand smoke and first-hand drizzle, we were shepherded into the theater. This is no ordinary theater; It's the infamous Chicago Theater known for its famous sign:

and unbelievable architecture:

The wait was worth it. Conan was his usual witty self, and it was really remarkable to see his comic genius up close. There was no real need for those "applause" signs because he had us laughing about every 1.2 seconds. In addition to the tall man, we got to see Max Weinberg and his band, Conan's former sidekick Andy Richter (a Chicago-native himself), and Cheers' George Wendt, who basically made out with Chewbaca, but that's another story. The guests for Friday's show included Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and indie darlings Wilco.

And if you really look hard, for a split second you can see us up in second balcony. That leaves 14 minutes and 59 seconds of fame for the future. I can't wait!

No way! I'm so jealous - Conan's my all-time fave. I watched him all the time in high school with my good friend karla and now here at BYU with all my crazy roommates. He's the absolute best because he doesn't take himself too seriously at all. It's so lovely. that's awesome - I totally watched that hsow too, but did not see you unfortunately. . .maybe if I had been looking! ha!
