is it weird to anyone else that 1988 was 20 years ago? like 20 years ago, the 80s was almost over! that means that two thirds of my life ago, this stuff was cool. seems like only yesterday. :)
Oh man, just had to add that yes I agree with Janaya -- lately my little sister has been referring to my high school years as "20 years ago" and I defiantly remind her that it was only... 18 years ago. How did we get so old?
Ummm... someone needs to point my nail salon in the direction of this post. Does anyone else feel like when they enter a salon they are entering a time warp back to the 80's?! Don't get me wrong,I'm not complaining, I love neon lighting and jamming out to Bananarama while having my nails done! Inevitably some lady with fly catcher bangs and an "I love Bret Michaels" tee shirt walks in and feels right at home!
His art may not be timeless, but Patrick Nagel died of a heart attack (after a charity Aerobathon) at age 38 in 1984. Had he lived, I think his art would have progressed instead of ending up in budget sushi bars and on classic Duran Duran covers. Got to stick up for Cal State Fullerton alums.
And people may not listen to Oingo Boingo anymore (unless they're stuck on Fast Times at Ridgemont High), but you can't watch TV or movies without listening to a Danny Elfman score.
So far chemo hasn't made me throw up, but that bedroom would in about 30 seconds.
Ha-Ha, and doe's Pdaddy NOT know anything?!!! and I agree with the Garners, the nail salons around here get ALL thier art from the $5 bin at Walmart or those $1 stores that aren't really $1 stores and have the craziest stuff for $15...

Amen sister!
Omg mrs dub! You are my hero for posting this. The classic 80s bachelor pad artwork hasn't been modern in 15 yrs. Love it.
What are you saying that ISNT cool? Oh, CRAP!
I totally remember my brother fighting with my parents about a very VERY similar poster series that he wanted to hang in his room.
(My mom thought they were inappropriate for a future missionary and probably wanted him to keep framed "Mormon Ads" on the walls.)
As for Oingo Boingo though, they NEVER goes out of style!!!!!
You are hilarious!
I give it five years until we see those posters labeled as "vintage" in Domino. I'm also anticipating the return of the waterbed.
hmmm, a waterbed? sounds comfortable.

Those pictures are both totally rad.

Ahh the waterbed. Ginny, I'm so glad you mentioned that. I was thinking about water beds just the other day. What a strange phenomenon...

That is like so totally awesome. I'm going to go rat my hair.
I totally had a water bed when I was a kid. I was the coolest kid on the block. I'm still sure of it.
Now I don't think I could get out of one!
