I have a few announcements to make:
* Miss Dub slept until 7:30 this morning. Maybe this is standard in your house, but we've been working hard the last month or so to make this dream a reality, which now makes me think all things are possible, including cold fusion and a resolution to the writer's strike.
* Speaking of the writer's strike, what the crap is the deal with The Hills? I'm not going lie, I've watched it, but mostly out of total confusion. Nothing happens. The characters hardly even speak, just make weird, awkward faces. Yet it's the most popular show on TV right now. I don't get it. Please say people are just watching to laugh at the sheer absurdity of it all. I mean, am I missing something? Is something actually happening on the show?
*Miss Dub has taken to carrying around two sippy cups at a time so that she can choose between milk and water per her mood. I like a girl who knows what she wants. Also, I love her.
* I'm just a fat, pregnant person. That's my shtick. Forget my weight loss and better eating habits, I am already popping out at 11 weeks! It's blasphemous! Part of it is the enormous amount of carbohydrates I shovel in to keep from puking, often unsuccessfully. Part of it seems to just be genetics. I just think I'm predisposed to gain 45 pounds with each pregnancy. Deal with it! (Also, don't mention it to me, as I'm a bit sensitive about the topic.)
* Speaking of puking, I went on Zofran this weekend and ... I'm not really noticing a difference. In fact, I kind of feel weird and dizzy and a different kind of pukey when I first take it. Then, there are a few hours of relief. Then it's back to puking. Any tips on the ideal time to take it to help curb my 2-9 p.m. nausea peak?
* This just in: Cold fusion is not possible.
Any announcements from your neck of the woods?

i'm not even gonna lie... i'm totally addicted to The Hills! :P I love Lauren Conrad. I think she's adorable, I can't help it. it's basically just a reality show of how her life is. there's lots of boy drama and best friend drama. which totally reminds me... i still need to watch the season finale!
p.s. boo to still having morning sickness :( or afternoon/evening sickness, rather. i hope you start feelin' better soon :)
I love The Hills, even though it is such bad TV. I just love to hate Heidi and Spencer or Speidi (I know, pathetic). And you are right, nothing really happens on the show, but it is worth it to watch it for the mean looks alone.
Oh and sorry about the morning sickness. I've never had a baby, but it sounds unbearable. Good luck!
If it makes you feel any better, my SIL, who is just over five feet tall, gained 60 lbs with a couple pregnancies. This approximately doubles her total body weight.
And I'm serious about "preggie pops" from Motherhood Maternity. One school of thought is that nausea comes from the lack of a sugar that your body doesn't release until the second trimester, so there is scientific support to those little candies. And they're yummy.
just keep hanging in there...it took a week for me to start noticing a difference.
and i've never seen the hills, but every time i pick up an us weekly there they are. what is it? i feel like a whole celebrity genre has unfolded and i'm not part of it because i don't get cable.
and i started showiing really early too...it's the curse of the second baby. the ab muscles are already stretched out and want to pooch. unfair, i know.
Umm... I'm pretty sure Elisabeth Shue already discovered the secret to cold fusion. I saw it on a movie once.
Man, sorry about the Zofran - I took it for very mild nausea and it helped me a ton. There's still hope!
I can't believe you don't like the Hills. I love Hank & Peggy & Bobby & Luanne and Boomhauer & Dale & the uppity Korean neighbors...oh, wrong Hills. Haven't seen The Hills, but isn't the premise of all MTV shows that life is a music video...I can remember when the premise was music videos are life.
Glad Miss Dub is taking hydration seriously...can Pilates & Yoga be far behind?
Oh, and about that fat gene, I plead guilty...just wish mine only kicked in when I was pregnant.
I can sum up why I watch The Hills into 2 points:
1) A girl can get great grooming tips. I've started using Visine, black nail polish, and a lot more eyeliner since watching. If nothing else these girls know how to groom.
2) Every guy on that show is a total tool. Watching so many Tools in action helps me to recognize this behavior in real life. This is important because historically this has not been a strong point for me. So I watch with a notepad in hand, and jot down indicators. It's really helping.
I gained 55 lbs with Elijah, if that makes you feel any better! Yeah, I know. It doesn't. How about "this too shall pass"?
i love justin bobby! he is such a loser.
also, i need your address. stat.
you DO want our christmas card, don't you?
i thought so.
i would stick with the zofran. i never took it, but i've heard it works wonders. maybe it just takes a few days to get the hang of it?
feel better!
that sucks that the zofran doesn't work! it's practically a miracle for me. you could try phenergan. it will make you tired but absolutely cure your nausea. and if not, it doesn't matter cuz you will be sleeping anyway.
i've never seen or attempted to watch The Hills but we don't have cable either.
keep eating saltines constantly and occasionally put some peanut butter or honey on them. it's a good source of energy and super yummy.
Protein is the key (well, sort of). I mean, I throw up my entire pregnancy, but it does help. This sounds gross, but split a cheese stick in half, wrap it in a very thin slice of deli meat and eat that every couple of hours. Never eat a full meal (just little ones every couple of hours). Ginger did wonders one pregnancy (I kept a little piece of crystallized ginger in cheek all the time) but now it makes me sick to think about it! I make sure and take Phenergen every night before I go to bed to be good and knocked out for the entire 8 hours. Only problem... my husband is frequently out of town and my 11 year old woke me up one night 'cuz my 3 year old was crying and I didn't hear him. I felt like such a bad mom!
congrats on the pregnancy, btw. sorry - no help on the pregnancy front. never been there. but i do have a hot topic for you tomorrow: whether or not to let your kids believe in santa. it was a hot topic around my house this weekend.
I know everyone is different but I gained the exact amount of weight with both of my pregnancies. It was kind of freaky. With my first pregnancy I exercised the whole time. During the second time around when I realized that I was just gaining weight no matter what I threw the exercise out the window. I know, not the best choice, but I was hormonal, and I still gained the exact same weight.
Yes. I have an announcement. Church was cancelled yesterday due to snow. How awesome is that? Read more about it on my blog.
Also, (This is more of a comment) I think Doug (Bart) made an excellent comment on last week's HTT. Since the topic was inspired by him, I just thought people should know.
Lastly, I haven't seen The Hills, but I did click into a show called "Fat Camp" the other day. It's about kids at Fat Camp. Is it politically correct to say Fat Camp?
Also Lastly, Sleep is the only cure for nausea. You'll need to hire a nanny and sleep non-stop until you give birth. Good luck!
P.S. I gained about 55 pounds with Bam and Babers.
i LOVE the hills. it's sad. it's pathetic. the show and my viewing it, of course.
but i, like angy, love lc, miss lauren conrad, and i love a little bit of drama... even if it consists of dirty looks and back stabbing.
at least it's not my life.
on to more important things: love miss dub.
What time are you taking the Zofran? I used to get more pukey in the afternoon and evening too. So I would take it with lunch around noon. Usually I could keep the lunch down and then feel decent for the rest of the day. Not feel great, but not living in the bathroom.
I also had to take Unisom every single night for all 3 pregnancies. It wasn't to help me sleep. It was to fight off the nausea the next morning. Combine it with one Zofran per day and I survived. Good luck!
Oh my gosh Gretchen, that tool comment almost had me blowing my water all over the screen.
Gosh, I don't know what is worse about the nausea, having to eat all of the time or not being able to eat any of the time, I lost 20lbs in my 3rd month with my first. I can say chew cinnamon gum or eat gummi bears. The cinnamon made me feel better. And BRUSH your teeth after every time you throw up and use that ACT mouthwash. I did the first but not the second and I have so many cavities from puking.
a. the hills is the bomb. one more grooming tip: according to audrina, it is cool to have teeth so white they are blue.
b. my blog is two, which means yours is approaching that. that is my announcement.
I felt the same way with Zofran so I started taking only half a pill...that seemed to help. might be worth trying!
so sorry to hear that you are feeling nauseated - nothing worse! Amen to what Jen said about the Mommy Pops - from what I hear, they work wonders.
i love to hate the hills. lc is the the most boring person on the planet.
CONGRATULATIONS! ok, so I know i shouldnt be feeling left behind, but everyone is on #2 now! And i promise i won't be there for a WHILE! Sorry about your morning sickness, I haven't had to deal with that yet, but feeling pukey is the worst! My last day of work (for good) is this Friday... yeah for being a stay at home mom! :)
i disagree.
cold fusion IS possible. i saw it on "the saint." val kilmer does not lie.
...and sorry, lu. i didn't gain A POUND with the birth of our son. hooray for adoption.
:)
45lbs to 145lbs of extra yummy babiness like eden looks fab on you.
I gained 60 lbs w/ my last kid. You're doing great.
i love the hills too, especially since it's the only "new" thing on TV (due to the strike and all)... that has got to explain the popularity!
so sad for the pukey puke despite the 'fran. one more week and into the 2nd tri right? here's to hoping you feel great then. yea on the good night's sleep though.
Unfortunalty, after my first baby, with each additional pregnancy, as soon as I thought I was pregnant, my tummy just poked right out! Then I wanted to lie and say I was farther along because that is how I looked, but those 9 months seem like a couple years so that was out. Sorry about the stupid morning (or should I say all-day) sickness. You young things sure know a lot more about everything then we ever did. But, sometimes ignorence is bliss. love ya!
I was going to say the same thing as Mrs. R. & Sara about cold fusion. But they beat me....
Sorry you're sickish. No fun at all.
And I also want to agree with A.G. about your brother-in-law's comment last HTT. I totally agree with him and I'm glad he spoke up.
