The other day I was at Walmart - I know, I know, it's a form of self punishment - when Miss Dub headed over to a bookshelf, grabbed a book and brought it back to me. It was a Harlequin romance titled Dead Sexy. I laughed at the cover and wondered if she had any clue about its contents - namely bad writing, cliché plots and an overdose of sleaze. (Though I must admit I've never read one. Perhaps they're brilliant, albeit raunchy.)
But on Saturday we were out at Barnes and Noble when Miss Dub, who started walking that same day, sauntered away from the children's area, grabbed a book off a shelf and opened it. As I came around the corner, I saw the title: Wild Child, another Harlequin romance from its raciest line of novels.
Uh, should I be worried?

miss dub started walking?!?! holy geeez! yay! way to go miss dub!
and im not sure i'd be too worried just yet... give it a few more years ;) hahah
You better get that girl started on Jack Weyland or you're in for trouble if you ask me.
yes you should. remember this is a girl who has a mother that started kissing in prechool. preschool is only like a couple years away.
If you find a flashlight under the crib blanket, then I'd be worried...otherwise, it probably just means they stock this stuff at her height (i.e., within the mental reach of its readers).
p daddy kills me with his cleverness.
Welcome to all the worries of Motherhood! It get's really fun when your kids tell you of all the "crazy" things they did in High School and you didn't have a clue. and remember, "Fruit doesn't fall far from the Tree"...
she knows what she wants. and obviously it's romance novels. but i would rent them first because one-year-olds like to tear pages out of books that aren't made of cardboard.
good luck with that one!
That is pretty funny. I love 'Dead Sexy'! That is great. She's got some interesting taste. I agree with Hilari. & P daddy!
love at first bite.
wow.
perhaps what miss dub is trying to say is "hey mom... look at these ridiculously untalented people who are getting paid to write these ridiculously stupid books... you should be making money as a writer for sure!"
i think miss dub has quite the fantastic taste in books.
good job, e.
maybe she just likes nice abs. who can blame her on that one?
at least you're not worried about her being a lesbian.
not that there's anything wrong with that!
ah she's already spotting good writing! She's just like her mother :)
No, you should be proud.
I've never seen Mr. Dub in person. The only visual I have had is the occasional fully-clothed pics on this blog. BUT...maybe Miss Dub picked up this book because she thought the model on the cover was her daddy?!
Thanks Jamie. I'm going with that explanation. If you'll excuse me I have to go finish my last set of 1000 sit-ups -- it's only my fourth set of the day.
Maybe Miss Dub is trying to tell you that she wants a play date with a little Mr??
Who is that sexy man on the front cover? Is that Mr. Dub?
looks like she's got good taste in abs. HA HA HA!!!
