A few of you (including Laurel) inquired about who comments on this bad blog.
You asked things like,
"Who are these people?"
"How you know them?"
"Who have you met in person?"
"Why do you smell like cabbage?"
And while I'm sure you've figured out that most are friends and family (or friend of friends and family), there are quite a few of you who I don't really know.
So why don't you all save my digits today and type up a short blurb on your connection to me, either in the real world or the virtual realm. If the latter, let us know how you stumbled on this here piece of madness. (My apologies by the way!)
Call it an early Christmas present for ol' M&M.
And, yes, all you lurkers, I at least expect you to say, "Hi!" I mean, you know that I didn't shower yesterday - By the way, I didn't shower yesterday - so I'd say you owe me a little personal information about yourselves.
It's going to be a regular party here today!
So who brought the clam dip?

what a good idea. i should do this to see who the 300 some odd people are who read my blog!
and do you really like clam dip? that sounds icky. :)
i met mrs dub at EFY in Logan, Utah when she was, let's see, well, it was 1994 i think, so she was like a sophomore in highschool. her older sister, mrs gee was in my EFY group and we became fast friends and ended up rooming together our freshman year at BYU. mrs dub was always sending her sis fun mail and came to visit a few times.
THEN, in a strange turn of events, mrs dub became friends with my sister in the self-same david john hall where mrs gee and i had spent so many fun hours. i'll leave the rest of the story to stephanie.
so mrs dub's sister is one of my best friends and mrs dub is one of my sister's best friends.
shall i go on? mrs dub's aunt colleen went to HS with my parents and wrote a note in my dad's year book. they were friends and/or crushes before my mom came into the picture.
yay for blog roll call! and waking up early to comment first! :)
I don't know Mrs. Dub at all. I just stalk her on the internet.
My name is Alison.
I found this darling blog by reading Janaya's darling blog who I clicked on from Jackie's darling blog who I actually kind of know because she's the sister of Jenn, my very dear friend, who also has a darling blog... (I often start out sentences to my husband, "So I was reading this girl's blog today... and get the ol' eye roll. So what! haha) :) I love the internet!!
I actually linked on here from Josie's blog, who I met once, who is a friend of my sister's. I live in Utah, and look forward to seeing your posts every morning. Thanks for letting me lurk!
Mrs. Dub and I met 10 years ago during our freshman year at the BYU! Floormates and all. My roommate, Mrs. R and I became fast friends with her and her roommates (Josie and K). And it was through Mrs. R that I found Mrs. Dub's blog!
My girlfriend Amy has a sister named Kristen who one time mentioned Mrs. Dub and suggested we check out her site... so long story short, I did and I keep coming back and very much enjoy reading about her musings and misadventures! And I like clam dip...
You don't know me at all. Hope you don't mind me stalking your blog! I found a link to it on Melanie's blog, who is married to my cousin. I love it and I look forward to reading it everyday, especially on HTT.
I'm a friend of a AC. She told me how great your blog was a couple months ago and I've been addicted ever since.
When my sister Rachie moved to Chicago she e-mailed me a link to your blog. She said, "I met this fun, cute, and witty girl...check out her blog". I did and I still do and I love it!
Leslie and I became friends in the HP ward while our husbands were both in grad school, upon her return to this neck of the woods...we swapped blog addresses and through some blog hopping Mrs. Dub and I met! I participated in a Scavenger Hunt for the Mrs. and since I don't live close enough for play dates or baby sitting, I guest blogged a HTT on the ever pop-u-ler M&M! So we got more acquainted that way... it's been fun! (is, be, being, been...not saying it's over (;
Did we meet through Jaime and Janni? Or through the communications department and Leigh Dethman? I honestly can't even remember how I knew you, I think it was the Power twins.
Either way, we were acquaintances at BYU and I love that we can remain virtual friends today.
in all honesty, im not sure when i first met mrs. dub. but my sister has been dating her brother for over 8.5 years and they got married this year! so we're kinda family now!! :) and that means she's stuck with me haha
I didn't shower yesterday either...I knew there was a reason I liked you!! I stumbled on you blog randomly and then realized I knew a few people who comment on your blog. I grew up knowing the Stayners...they are in my stake (aka Rachel and her many lovely sisters!)
i met mrs. dub through her husband dave (i laugh everytime i call him mr. dub). dave and i were good friends all through college, and i've often commented since that i should have known mrs. dub much sooner in my college career as we should have been great friends and not had to discover our kinship through the internet (DAVE!). though she and dave did come to my birthday party one year, and we're all making plans for the day that dave and i start our own ad agency and make millions, so mrs. dub and i can live on the same street... at least i liked that suggestion. :)
and in conclusion, you look like maggie gyllenhaal in that picture. :)
I've been an admirer of Mrs. Dub since I was a kid- before she was even Mrs. Dub. An onlooker since childhood- I only found her blog through the good graces of her mother a few weeks ago and it's been heaven ever since!
My name is Morgan, and i don't know Mrs. Dub at all. I first found this blog through Mrs. R's blog, who i don't know either, but I know her sister in law Taryn, who is actually the sister of MY sister in law Tessa (make sense) but after I came here, I realized that my friend Janaya knows Mrs Dub too. What a small world this is. So anyway...now I love this blog and subscribe to it so I don't miss out on any of the love. I hope that's ok. If it makes you feel better, you can stalk my blog too!
I don't know Mrs. Dub either but came upon your blog through linking from other peoples blogs. I guess I am a blog lurker since I rarely comment on anyone's blog, unless they are family. I'm taking a big leap here....gulp!
My sis Rachel was roommates with your sis at BYU- she told me about you- and I have been hooked ever since.
I've known Mrs. Dub since elementary school, where we were church and school friends, always talking about cabbage patch kids...then through adolescence we would see each other at large church events, girls camp, etc!
I was roommates with Mrs Gee, Mrs Dub's sister (lucky me!) at the BYU. Mrs Gee is still one of my best friends (we are going to brunch today, in fact!) and Mrs Dub is awesome! I love that I can say I actually know you:) How cool am I?!
I am sorry to say that I have never met Mrs. Dub, although I wish that I had. I also cannot say that I have an original story as to how I found this blog but I too have a friend, Clarissa Meegan, that mentioned your blog and I have come back every day since. I really enjoy hearing about your adventures and your witty style of life. Thanks for sharing, even if it is with a stranger.
I know Mrs. Dub through two people.
I first happened upon her blog when I started blogging in January through Stephanie's blog but didn't totally communicate with her until after Gus died.
Also, my husband went to school with her at MVHS and has given me some background from time to time whenever I ask. He doesn't remember much, so the rest I get from Steph.
We have never met in person, though.
We met at Playgroup about 8 months ago and we are forever friends now.
I think the first thing we said to each other was. "Why are we living in this cold state?"
the stars were aligned right and mrs. dub and i were on the same floor in our dorm our freshman year in college ...going on ten years ago!
we've been dear friends ever since and it is *I* who introduced her to dave ...even though everyone else says it is because of my husband (mr. r). but mrs. dub and mr. r would have never met if it weren't for me, so there you go.
and also, our first borns and getting married. after all, they do have the same sunglasses. and yes, mrs. dub, it IS a sign.
although i have never been a fan of calms or crabs for that matter, mrs. dub and i have been long time bff's. it all started in sixth grade when we were still 11 years old and met in primary. we are now going on our 17th anniversary! sometimes i am also known as mrs. jay.
forget the clam dip.
...and cake?
i married mrs. dub's bro. i met mrs. dub many moons ago, and i thought she was the coolest ever. she had a surfboard in her room (even tho we lived in az), and she liked rad music.
p.s. i didn't wash my hair today.
watch out mrs. r, i believe miss dub is already promised to my second born, we have proof of their love connection.
Hey! I love your blog...awesome topics...I found it through Amber's...who has Hilari's link...who has YOUR LINK...both are in the ol ward...actually Amber was telling me to go look at your blog...so I DID! and I LO-OVE! :) (i'm singing that...haha)
I'm linked to Mrs. Dub through 3 different channels... My sister was in Leslie's ward both at BYU and in Texas and I found M&M through her. But after a while reading I realized I was also good friends with her brother-in-law my freshman year at BYU. And the most complicated degree of separation is this: my friend Chaunette is friends with Candice who is friends with Briar who is Josie's sister, who is friends with Mrs. Dub. (Yeah, it took me a while to figure that one out).
I found this blog through Jamie Johnson's blog, who I knew from our married student ward at BYU. ("Mrs. R" was also in that ward.) So I've been lurking for a little while, and I love your posts, especially HTT.
Also, I have a baby girl who is the same age as Miss Dub and my first child as well, so I feel a special kinship with you, Mrs. Dub! (Did I mention that I didn't shower yesterday either?)
Don't know you, but I think I found you by clicking on a comment you made on cJane's blog, who I also don't know, but whose blog all the bloggers I really do know seem to read.
what a coincidence because i didn't shower yesterday either.
i don't know mrs. dub, but was intrigued by her funny comments on azucar's and cjane's blogs.
and i'd bring the artichoke dip if it weren't for w.w.
Well, I have been waiting for my older sis, Sara, to post a comment so that I could just piggy back on her comment and say, "And I met Mrs. Dub through her." So she might have a slightly different story.
My sister and Mrs. Dub's sister, Miss Ess, became BFF's in middle school, I believe. After that, my whole fam seemed to become friends with the S* family. Each fam had 3 girls and one boy, all about the same ages. Our older sisters were pretty tight, including rooming together at BYU. Mrs. Dub and I became friends through LDS youth activites. Mrs. Dub and I have shared a tent, people. That has to count towards something here, right?
And wow, Mrs. Dub! You have all kinds of readers that I have never heard of! You really are popular.
Rumored contributor of half her DNA, though I routinely denied it during her teenage years which started when she was about 3 and ended while I was walking away from leaving her at the MTC. Incredibly proud of her now (and secretly even during those intervening years). Though with what I've recently heard about this whole female mitochondria and Eve connections stuff, my only genetic contribution may any tendancy she has to skip showers. But I stubbornly claim Miss Dub as my grandchild anyway (if only because her own stubborness, eating habits, and temper clearly bear my imprint).
wow!
i'm overwhelmed with warm fuzzies, that may or may not be indigestion.
but my joy is interspersed with depression over not having met half of you ... and not having seen those i know in way too long!
loads of gracias to all!
I clicked over from a comment Dub made on CJane's blog and have been a "devoted reader" ever since. Really, though, the blog world is very much a "six degrees of separation" world...esp. the Mormon blogs! We all know someone who knows someone who knows you!
Let's see... I know Mr. Dub and my husband were friends in college. Roommates at one time maybe? And were they in the same mish? Wow, I've got the memory of a ninety-year-old woman. Anyway, I met Mrs. Dub after they were already married. Possibly at a barbecue. And I thought it was way cool that she was a reporter.
I can say for sure that she ran into my blog through the grapevine and linked me to hers. Just checked my past comments for verification. :)
Love the photo. I second the Maggie Gyllenhaal resemblance. And those gorgeous blue eyes!
I guess I better 'fess up too. I do not know Mrs. Dub personally either, but thouroughly enjoy all her posts. I found her blog through Natalie*'s, I think. Thanks for always giving me something to think about!
like Katie said and go Boo Boo to come I'm sure, I discovered the very witty and entertaining Mrs. Dub and M&M through Rachel (Mrs. Gee's former room mate at the BYU and good friend to us all still...any friend of Rachel's...). Never actually met Mrs. Dub but can't wait until I do. Haven't showered yet (it is still early...only 11:30am) but plan to.
P.S. Never felt as much joy in the blogging arena as when I received a comment from the Mrs. Dub. Thank you! You are always welcome in my blog world!
Since I haven't showered today either (and probably won't get around to it) I'll leave a comment instead. I found your blog through CJane who is my friend Alice's sister in-laws sister. So...how many degrees of seperation is that?
OOOooo - what a fun idea! Alright, so me and Miss Dub met back when my family lived in AZ - 1985-'88. But it goes back further than that - GET THIS - Miss Dub's Mom and my Mom were roomies at BYU, living in Heritage Halls their freshman year - good old BYU making connections that last a life time!
Then, a couple years into my forever friendship with Leslie, we discovered that we both knew the S* family of AZ - how wild! - and that is how I came to be a dedicated read of musings and misadventures.
I was lucky to room with Mrs. Dub at BYU for just a short while before she married Mr. Dub. She was a lovely roommate for just a few weeks and is always an interesting friend.
My SIL did a scavenger hunt for Mrs. Dub and told me to check out her blog. I did and ever since I have been hooked. I only comment occasionally since I don't actually know Mrs. Dub.
my fabulous sister, has a friend in her old ward who had a link to Mrs. Dub on her blog. One day after my house was spotless, my kids were in bed, dinner was cooked, I was showered (ok you get the point and all of that was a joke) I was bored and sat down endlessly reading blogs. I instantly became addicted. love at first sight.
a shower? what's that?
The truth is Mrs. Dub, I don't know you. I am blog lurker and I visit regularly. I rarely leave comments but I have to say some of my favorites are definitetly HTT and the darling little Miss Dub. :)
I found your blog through my friend Mrs. Bennett. At the time you were not on her role, but this girl's life was. So after peeking in on this girl, I found you.
Do you really like clam dip? Sounds nasty to me!
i plead the fifth on the clam dip, folks.
after all, it is a simplehappy home specialty!
I found your blog from Rachie, whom I found through my BFF Kendee, who moved to Chicago last year. Then I also found you through my good friend Mandee who found you through her good friend Rachie (same Rachie as above). The world is small and I love reading your blog because you are cute, fun, and oh so witty. Thanks for the good read.
Holy moly, not a good day to show up late!
Mrs. Dub's older sister Ginny (of Vespa fame) was my middle school BFF and BYU freshman year roommate; a long-lasting friendship that I credit for many good things in my life. As a 12-yr-old I always thought our friendship was meant to be because we had the same lineup of kids in our families; 3 girls & a boy of nearly identical ages... and now my mom & their mom run into each other at the quilting store all the time.
I have an excellent clam dip recipe if you're interested... I always bust it out for New Year's.
This is fascinating! I am surprised at how many people don't actually know you in real life.
My sister, Jamie, already explained our connection to Mrs. Dub & her family. We were in the same stake growing up, and our older sisters were friends first. I became friends with Mrs. Gee (since we're the same age). I went to camp with Mrs. Dub (& her sisters) & was even her JC (jr. counselor) one year. I also lived with Mrs. Dub's oldest sister, Miss Ess, one year at BYU. AND our mothers see each other frequently at quilting classes (that Mrs. Dub's mother teaches).
My sisters are frequent commentors on this blog (Sara & Jamie). I am also wondering if AC is who I think she is...
What a great idea! I often wonder about who you all are.
i had the pleasure of meeting mrs. dub at a stake dance in the summer of '96 when she was on her way home to az after attending efy in santa barbara, where she had met several of my friends. (also, fyi mrs. dub, that was the night i kind of met tristen, too. bizarre) anyway, i had known about her for nearly 2 years from my sister, leslie (please refer to the first comment on this post). i think she was also writing my brother on his mission at the time. a few months later, it was mrs. dub who called me on the phone to tell me that we would both be living in david john hall at the b y our freshman year. once at byu we became great friends, and i believe that my husband and i are married because of her love and support and the fact that her parents conveniently lived 30 minutes away from his in arizona.
and so i thank you, mrs. dub, for 11 years of wonderful friendship.
Oops -- sorry to have duplicated what my sis Jamie already said about the S*'s and the B*'s -- didn't read all 50 comments before posting my own!
I first met Mrs. Dub when the doctor said "one more push!" and out she popped ... all covered in this gray waxy stuff that none of my other children had the privilege of being covered in. (Maybe that's why she doesn't need to shower?)
Clam Dip is to die for, people. It's an Ess family tradition at Thanksgiving. Maybe I will post the recipe on my blog and then I will have like, 60 new friends. Woohoo.
I love clams.
If you bring the dip, I‘ll bring the chowder.
I found Mrs. Dub through my friend Cjane’s blog, but it turns out we know the same people! I am good friends with some people that she knew from The B.Y. and the wards there. Other than that, only our common intelligence and classy fashion sense unite us.
I know neither Mr. or Mrs. Dub in real life, but I linked over here from somewhere (Cjane's perhaps??) and have been amused by your musings ever since. I especially love HTT.
Thanks!
holy crap! you know a lot of people. I think i get like five comments on my blog entries on average.
My name is Janni Kimble (formerly Power) So i know Mrs dub from college- met her from some mutual friends and became friends post mission... we spent much time watching zoolander, hanging out on rooftops during Stadium of fire, and being very silly. I remember that one time Mr. Dub knocked her up before they were even dating! Love you lots!
"knocked her up" ?? Was that a poor choice of words?
actually, no, anonymous ... it's a reference to a time, when miss dub wasn't even a twinkle in our eye*, that mr. dub and i dressed in costume as an expectant wife and husband to beg for some money for dessert. aw, college coeds!
(*mr. dub hates it when i use the phrase "twinkle in our eye." so, of course, i try to use it as often as i can.)
woah! mrs. dub for president! hello, sister popular! ;)
Well, well Mrs. Dub. Quite a showing of friendship and devotion here. Fantastic. I don't know Mrs. Dub more than most the gals that comment, but I do love a daily dose. It's a treat to be a blogger with you. Absolutley a treat. I know Abbie, who knows Stephanie, who knows Mrs. Dub. It's a small world afterall.
Alifinale was at my house and we were talking blogs and she told me to check you out. So I did.
I suppose we were at BYU at the same time but so were 30,000 other kiddos. Perhaps we did meet and I obviously made a lasting impression. . .
i'm happy to report that a clam dip is indeed being had in my honor over at simplehappy home. click here, make a little and see if it's your thing. it's probably like neil diamond - there are two kinds of people in this world: those who love clam dip and those who don't.
No, don't know you either. I am a friend of Josie who has a link to your blog. I visit often, told my sister about you, she is a frequent visitor, as well as many of her friends. I love to read what you have to say and think you are darling!
I didn't shower yesterday either! Yes, I am a blog stalker/lurk, yet I do know your sister Mrs. G (she even gave us one of our favorite wedding presents 10 years ago!). Mrs. G. and darling Leslie roomed with my sister Rachel at the BYU. I would often come down to Provster from the U of U on my binge-drinking weekends off and hang with Rachel and her goody-two shoes friends (no they are really the coolest chicks I have ever had the pleasure of associating). I recommend your site, as a very well written and funny read, to all my "real-life" friends who are interested to know what blogging is really about. My sister Katie (who is also a Mrs. Dub fan) hopes we will all meet one day and associate as our blog names (eg. Mrs. Dub, Azucar, gobooboo, etc.)
I found you through Leslie (your first commenter) but I'm not sure how I found her. But I love her ... and I love you! (well your blog anyway, let's not get carried away. Sheesh!)
as much as mrs. r would like to think that she is the reason you and mr. dub are married, i strongly feel that it is ME that caused you two to fall in love and live happily ever after.
remember when justin and i broke up and i didn't want to be alone, so i called mr. dub to spend the day with me? and then we came back from swimming and you and mr. dub sat on the couch and talked FOREVER? i truly feel in my heart that THAT was the beginning of your relationship.
love you, and your butt, flat as it may be.
i found mrs. dub's blog through links from leslie (flowerchain) and stephanie (barefoot in the kitchen.) my husband's sister is married to leslie and stephanie's brother. so although i've never met mrs. dub, i do know several people who have met her. :) that's got to count for somethihg.
Hey Mrs. Dub! It was fun running in to you at the rummage sale today... I didn't find much either by the way.
I've known you since you moved into the ward a few years ago (sorry, I don't remember which year - after 5+ years the people and which years they were here start to jumble together in my head!)
We share the journalism bond AND I just realized you were also a David John girl. We'll have to figure out if we were there at the same time... (I was a 2100 floor DIVA from 1998-1999)
Hey there. I work with Mr. Dub, and that is why I'm likely the last to post. Because we work on a "bear" of a project togther that often leaves me with little time for luxuries such as cathing up on the Mrs. and the Miss. And posting. Plus, I'm a little shy. Probably cuz I suggested to the Mr. that y'all should come over and then I never invited you b/c (as I hope he shared) we had a "problem" at our last apartment and then we just moved... Is it too late? So anyway. Hello, and thanks for welcoming me to read your blog (I hope he told you I explicitly asked "are you sure she wouldn't mind if I read her blog?"). Happy Friday!
I fess up. I'm a lurker and regular reader. Love the blog. Love the writing style. Love Hot Topic Tuesday.
I stumbled on this by hitting a friend of a friend of a ... well, you get the point.
I met mrs dub at THE BYU. her sister (mrs gee) was roommates with my roommates rachel & leslie, before I was roommates with them. and we (the missus and I) had a class together over a summer term - was it biology or appreciation of nature, I can't remember...
I am intimately aquainted with mrs dub on a non-Ellen like level- I enjoy her I love her - but not in that oprah and Gayle like way( Oh, I mean shes totaly in to Stedman)Mrs Dub you are the wind beneath my wings!
We rocked the Utah County bureau as John Hughes' original "tigers," or, the blondes he wanted to put on the billboard. I prefer the latter. We took Utah County by storm as daring reporters trying to bring the man down.
Now, you're rocking the world with your witty banter while I'm still stuck blathering on about local politics. I LOVE the blog!
Wow. I think you owe money.
i happened upon your blog through old byu roommates who knew you and now i am addicted.
Okay, so I admit I am a lurker. but I look at your blog almost every day, I feel bad for now leaving this a day after the post. So I will now tell how I managed to find your entertaining and refreshing blog. I am a friend of a girl named Maralise, who is a friend of C Jane Enjoy It. Another funny connection is I went to high school with Natalie H* who is Leslie's best friend and she is a friends of my BFF Carrie's husband Lincoln and have kept in touch with each other since then. So I found this lovely blog through two sources and have spent many enjoyable moments peeking at the adorable Miss Dub and reading your witty posts. Thanks so much for letting us feast on your words.
Mrs. Dub commented on my friend Jill's blog, so I looked at this blog, and I was hooked. Especially since Jill quit blogging--to my dismay. I love that she posts every day.
I'm a lurker who has no connection to you. I think I googled "Mormon Mommies" and somehow ended up here. I keep coming back.
My sister is Whitney who was in Janaya's ward. I met Janaya through all the hoppin' parties Whitney hosts. Janaya blogged, Whitney blogged, I blog. Huzzah!
P.S. I hope you're not opposed to Maggie Gyllenhaal, because this picture of you totally reminds me of her.
I know your Hubby.
for the record, i've always said maggie gyllenhaal was my long, lost sis. we both look like cabbage patch dolls.
I have a few things in common with Mrs. Dub.
1. We both like blogging and writing.
2. We both have adorable children.
3. We're both married to Dub Brothers.
(Which means we have a whole bunch of other stuff in common too.)
One day I hope to have a tiny bit of your sense of style and a tiny bit of your loyal blog readership!!! A girl can dream!
I guess I qualify as a "lurker." I found you through Leslie, who is married to my brother. I rarely post a comment, but I often read and love your blog!
I'm a vespa-holic and La Dolce Vespa (whenever there are updates) is my occasional reading. Ever since I linked here, it has been my must read each morning. Love the HTT
Found you through Leslie.
hey this is a little late, but this list i'm sure is way longer than people are admitting. i've never met mrs dub - my cousin carrie is friends with mrs r and told me to check out the dubster blog. it has been well worth it. keep up the good work, dubya.
Hi, just a lurker. I was linked over to your blog awhile back when you wrote a post about you and your husband (a meme I believe) and you seemed like fun so I kept reading!
Great idea, by the way!
I am so behind on this one... I just had a baby, so I've been out of commission if you know what I mean.
When it's put into words it really does make me feel like a stalker.. but here goes...
I came across M&M through stephenie's blog (I don't know her either, just another victim of my stalking)I came across stephanie's blog by 2 of her cousins (I think) Robin & Emily both had links to her blog on theirs. So when I first got into blogging I just clicked around & found myself enjoying your daily rambling/stories/adventures.. or misadventures.. hehe
I found you through Leslie as well. Leslie and I met through Natalie. And now I've introduced you to a few as well. Hope you don't mind. I think we should try and break 100...
