Happy Hallow-weiner!

So the big day is here.

Whether or not I like Halloween's color scheme is no longer important because I do love me a good costume.

So spill - what are you and your chittlins going as this year?

Shhh, don't tell, but Mr. Dub is going to take advantage of his overgrown curls and dress as Napoleon Dynamite. I will be going as his main squeeze, Deb, while Miss Dub will round up the theme as a mini Pedro, complete with mustache.

Pictures will come tomorrow, of course, but please do link to yours today if you already have some. (And most "together" moms do, but I've never claimed to be one.)

Oh, and for the record, you CANNOT find a fanny pack at Goodwill or Salvation Army these days. Apparently, they know that no one, even in the direst of circumstances, will purchase such a figure-unflattering item. Walmart, however, carries an entire section. So, no worries, I'll be sporting an FP with glee, but only because it's a costume. I almost dislike fanny packs as much as I detest the mini-backpack. What was with that trend?

p.s. Prefer a treat to a trick? Then click here for my review on these infant shoes. Seriously, I love them! Like, I tried to marry them, but apparently that's illegal in Illinois.

because i am a mother now, i must follow the tradition of my mother. she is a witch every year, adding a little to her costume every year. it will be my first year. this year i will add a hat ...also probably from walmart. (boo and yeah at the same time!)

mr. r always goes in the only costume that i can get him to wear ...his football uni. complete with cleats and helmet. he goes all out. i mayeven hold him down and put that black stuff under his eyes. what is that stuff anyway?

and mr. t is out little lion. he seriously is roaring and growling these days so we thought it was perfect. and warm. and cheap--only $13 at old navy.

can't wait to see your pix.

Can't wait to see your costumes!!! I am glad that some of my part of the upbringing took! (I am also very glad that some of it didn't, and that the majority of traits came from your simplyhappy Mom and the great and powerful pdaddy!
love you!!!

I have a Darth Vader and an Anakin Skywalker (a before and after, if you will), a scary skeleton head, and a very cute baby clown. I wanted a whole Star Wars ensemble, but after about age five, my kids think they should get to choose what THEY want to be. Pictures tomorrow.

Shaggy, Velma, and Scooby Doo. My little sis is Daphne, so we're only missing Fred.

Check out our festive costumes on
my blog. Not too bad for cardboard and duct tape, right?

My sister's family and I are going as the Flinstones and Rubbles. They have a son who will be Bam Bam, and our daughter will be Pebbles. If we finish sewing costumes today, that is. . .

I so knew we should have saved those Caboodles we got you girls when you were little. You could have borrowed your sisters and had a whole Deb-worthy set to wheel around the neighborhood. But if Mr. D needs some help I'd be happy to make a Sonic run so he can have a fresh pocketful of 'tots, and we can lend him those Size 12 moon boots Mom wears to wade across the yard when it floods.

Happy Halloween to you all and especially to little Pedro-ette.

P.S. Definition of oxymoron: Mrs. R as a witch, unless you're talking Glinda before Wicked.

Yes, it should be sisters', though I am sure they would lend themselves, too.

My husband and I are the same thing... since we bought costumes two years ago for a How to Host a Murder Party and we're too cheap to buy new ones (so far)!

So he's a knight... I'm a tavern wench (or maiden, if you prefer the watered-down version), and now our little son is going to be a horse (as in, my husband's trusty steed). There are already pictures of my eight-month-old horsey.

I am going as the Mom who tries to beg out of trick-or-treating so she can stay home and snarf down kit-kats while watching ghost-hunter marathons (will I be disfellowshipped for loving that show???)

My kids are at an age where they have their own ideas about costumes.

Jacob is a Ninja complete with swords and wild mid-air leaps and kicks.

Rachel is the first (half) African-American Cinderella complete with afro-puff hairdo and tiara! (Note: please review what your children are viewing on the car dvd player before making a trip out for costumes!)

J is Spiderman. He is a dang cute little Spidey too. I tried to convince Jake to wear his black spiderman costume to match, but to no avail.

I have no idea how to leave those little links in comments (not because I couldn't figure it out by looking up how, I'm just lazy) If you aren't lazy you can click on my name and scroll around my blog until you find kids that fit the descriptions above.

Happy Halloween! I anxiously await Ms. Dub as Pedro. It will make my year.

3 hula girls and one Anakin. I'm not smart enough to know how to embed a link in a comment. Something about href? Yikes. But they're here: http://saratheblogger.blogspot.com/ We went pretty low-key & low-cost this year; girls' costumes from Oriental Trading Co and Noah's was the same as last year -- although they all really like what they're wearing and that's all that counts right?

I myself have not dressed up since I have been a grown-up. But I always do try to incorporate as much orange and black into my wardrobe as possible that day/night.

Can't wait to see your pics!
