QUESTION:
If someone told you had to choose between the following or you'd get no dessert - and I know of no greater threat - what would you pick:
A very cold winter
or
A very hot summer?
Because I used to be all about the latter until I met HUMIDITY. And now I'm thinking winter is looking better every day. Then again, it's still a humid cold.
Stupid moisture!

I would rather have a really cold winter. At least when its cold you can put layers on to keep you warm. When it's hot an sticky there are never enough layers to take off.....unless of course you are comfortable walking around nude.
I completely agree with Ashby... you can never remove enough layers in a hot/sticky summer... but I'd much more prefer that than the coldest winter. I hate, with a passion, being cold!!!
My ideal weather would be around 90 degrees in Arizona. That would be perfect! :)
Heat, heat, heat. As long as it's dry, of course. Or at least dry-ish. I can't take much humidity, of the hot or cold variety.
i hate to admit, i almost agree with ashby too ... especially with the g-issue.
because when i am hot and sweaty (and dressed) i am hating the g's, and i definately don't live in arizona or california or chicago, so it's not even near as bad.
but if a swimsuit was allowed 24/7 and tanks and short shorts, i could make it.
otherwise stick me (w/ g's) in a cute sweater and jeans, and mittens!
I would rather it be hot- because no matter how hot it is (100+) what have you- dipping in a cool pool feels so great!
i've always said cold winter and i don't think i will ever change my mind. especially living in az now. but i certainly have learned how it's possible to stay in a pool all day long and it always feels good.
after this pregnant summer, i am very tempted to say a cold winter. but then i remember what it feels like to be so cold that your entire body is rigid and i remember how much i hate getting into a freezing car. so i am going to pick a hot summer. as long as it is in arizona and there is no humidity. really, orange county is sounding heavenly these days, but we just can't stomach the expense of living there.
i like to think of the relaxation factor. if you are in a sauna - you can unwind and relax. if you are in the deep freezer - your muscles are tense and your fists are curled up. i really like to take it easy. who am i kidding? i prefer perfect 75-80. with a breeze.
I choose a cold winter every single stinking time. Why? Because you can always bundle up more, but you get to the point in the summer when there’s nothing else to take off and you are still miserable.
Husband and I were lying in bed last night under the whir of the ceiling fan. We voiced aloud, and at the same time, our incredible desire…FOR FALL.
Plus, fall and winter clothes? Hello, gorgeous! Boots, sweaters, wide-leg herringbone trousers with high heeled oxfords, YES! The only good thing about summer are itty-bitty stiletto sandals.
AZ, for all its splendors and beauty, is my idea of climate hell. Anything above 85 degrees is pretty miserable as far as I’m concerned. It should be above 90 only two or three times a year. If it was 57-65 degrees year round I would be delighted.
But just you wait, Mrs. Dub, for the unbelievably cold winters that humidity brings. Brrr!
hot summer. there is always a pool SOMEWHERE. I live in buffalo in NY & spend 8+ mo of the year FREEZING. so don't talk to me about how "you can always put more layers on." sometimes it's just too cold, no matter how much wool or down or fleece you wear.
BOO humidity. (although it is nice for the skin?)
Hot summer. Definitely. I speak with experience. I lived for 3 years in NW Ohio where it got downright COLD, and the winter was LONG. The humidity in the winter is biting. Wind chill is horrible.
I am 8+ months pregnant and HOT and always sweaty right now in the AZ. I'm not loving it. But it's very much like Hilari says. In the cold, your muscles tense up, and it is physically painful. Plus having to bundle up the kids in all of those layers gets to be SUCH a hassle. While hot summers might be uncomfortable, there is no pain involved. And even little kids can get summer clothes and flip flops on without help.
how bout neither. i hate em both. and i live where humidity was born, okay?
i'd take central coast, CA anyday. where it's never too hot and never too cold. no joke. PERFECT. all the time.
oh well.
If I had to pick I would choose A Hot summer. ... But of course I would go with my sis and choose the perfect weather.
i vote for spring and fall all year round. can i have that?
Cold Winter for sure. Oooo bring on the sweaters, I am READY!
