I know, I know, it's already past noon, and I've yet to blog.
But I'm having some blogger's block.
And the only thing I can think to share is what an editor once told me when we were brainstorming story ideas for the home & garden section.
HER: "You know what is sooo in right now?"
ME: (Enthusiastically.) "What?"
HER: "Staircases."
ME: (Blank stare.)
I mean, aren't staircases somewhat of a necessity when one needs to get from one floor to another? Or have they been merely decorative all this time, and I'm the only fool who doesn't know another way to transport myself between stories?
We had a similar conversation later that year when brainstorming for a feature story.
HER: "You know what is sooo in right now?"
ME: (Less enthusiastically.) "What?"
HER: "Being a mom."
ME: (Blanker stare.)
Yeah, I'm pretty sure being a mom isn't a trend. And if it is, then its heyday was the mid-1800s. In which case, being a mom makes you an antique. Or retro. Or way too tired to blog.
What else is sooo in right now?

rehab!
sorry, but it's true.
That's seriously the most awesomest blog ever. I keep reading it... and laugh every time. Excellent work! :)
I have to agree with Steph... rehab is kind of in at the moment. Sad but true.
Do you know what is soooooo in right now?
New pictures of Miss Dub!
Please -- isn't that rather obvious?
Do you know what is sooooo in right now?
Construction. Please let it not take me 3 hours to leave the Chicago-land-area.
being devan is soooo in right now.
Unfortunately, George Bush. Oh, and Dick Cheney, too.
Jay Leno said a few weeks ago, that if Cheney resigned because of his health that would make Bush acting president. :)
My bad - I voted for them twice (more against their opponents than for them). Not trying to make it Hot Topic Thursday.
Oh, jail's in too, it's the new rehab. Can't wait to see if Martha sends Paris a knit poncho.
And Devan has always been the height of "in".
Any time I've wondered that question, I've looked at the Ess girls for the answer!
in utah -- ____ parties
what was once tupperware has become: shade, layers, purses, dresses, jewelery (how the crap do you spell that), beads, pampered chef, "unmentionables", you name it... there is a group of women getting together on a weeknight to try and sell it to each other.
I love that story too. My fovorite part is when you said "blanker stare." That is so true -- on so many levels.
you know what i think is sooo in? showering. not showering is so 90's.
p daddy is obviously SOOOO in. paris in a knit martha poncho?! how cool is he?
i've thought of doing a post and asking people what's "in" where they live, for kids, moms, etc. (obviously fashion-based). here, it's all about CROCS, Webkinz and cruising. (the big ships leave from galveston, not far from here.)
ugh, and all those parties janaya mentioned. people are so uncouth, asking friends for money all the time. my VT sells mary kay and makes me so uncomfortable.
No, doll, being a mom is SO in. Tara Reid told me so. This is a true story.
I had to manage a photo shoot for Tara Reid during Sundance. I somehow ended up with her phone number and a semi-commitment to hang out with her opening night of the Film Festival. In order to get out of it, I told her I couldn't find a babysitter. To which she replied, "you have kids. Oh my god, that's so hot right now. I want to have a baby. It's so trendy."
To which I replied, "totally, that's why I did it. Being a mother of two makes me SO effing cool."
We didn't hang out.
so, sometimes i just get a hankering to peak through your archives, and today i noticed a little label called "idiots"... definitely couldn't keep on walking passed that kind of temptation! and i just had to say that this line made me burst out laughing:
"I mean, aren't staircases somewhat of a necessity when one needs to get from one floor to another? Or have they been merely decorative all this time, and I'm the only fool who doesn't know another way to transport myself between stories?"
i'm sure it made me laugh the first time i read it back in may, also. but i love a little laughing bursting once in awhile. so thanks. :)
