The real gifts are in the mail, but if money were no object – and in my blogdom it never is – here are the other presents I would present to the mothers in my life:
For my mom – A bottomless pile of home décor magazines, the perfect “nap” couch and an endless bag of chocolate chips and assorted cereals. Oh, and free airfare to Chicago and California to see her two grandkiddies (and three daughters) any time she wants.
For my glammom – Exclusive rights to all animal prints and an art supply store in her new house.
For my mom-in-law – A magical credit card to cover all purchases at Costco, Deseret Book and Ethan Allen. Oh, and some more of that free airfare to Chicago and California, along with some to Rhode Island to see the newest Dubbie ... again.
For my sisses-in-law – A weeklong trip to Monterrey – no kids, no husbands and lots and lots of (somehow good for you) desserts. And if they'll let me, I'll come, too.
For my friends – A ginormous reunion in Cabo where we can all sit, gab and stay up really, really late without worrying about how early we’ll be up with the kids the next day. There may also be some “truth or dare” involved. (I always chose “dare.” I’m just like that.)
For not-quite-yet moms – (As the case may be …) A super supply of patience, a burning desire to be a mom, a miracle here and there, and an amazing ability to enjoy where you’re at right now because one day you’ll miss it.
For me – A cure for teething, a good night’s rest and more and more children just like my own Miss Dub, who makes being a mother so very worth it.

So, did you have to let everyone in on the secret about the chocolate chips/cereal combo? What I want for Mother's Day I already have . . . the very, very, very best children . . .and the most exquisite grandchildren. And . . . chocolate chips don't hurt either.
Thanks for your thoughts . . . I'll watch my mail for signs of free airline tickets.
cute, cute, cute! Sometimes it is fun to dream about getting/giving anything we want!
Such lovely thoughts today.
My mother-in-law has a bowl of dry cereal and mixes in chocolate chips EVERY night for a snack! So funny!
I would give my mother a new bedroom... new flooring, furniture, bedding, wall color, window coverings, etc. because she really wants that but doesn't like the hassle of having to coordinate all of it.
I would give my mother-in-law an unlimited supply of plane tickets to visit her grandchildren and children (none live anywhere close to upstate NY).
My little sister would get a buyer for her house. My older sister would get a maid because she doesn't love to clean.
Oh, that masseuse couldn't come at a better time! Ever since Olga retired, my neck and shoulders have been a mess. As for meeting at my avocado tree in the backyard...let's make that a daily thing!
My gift to you for Mother's Day would be a writing gig with a super-hip magazine, because we all know that you should get PAID for these masterpieces!
Love you!
fun idea for a post! I'd just like to give them (us) all a really great feeling inside about themselves--and the conviction that motherhood rocks...always.
I would give my mother a shopping spree....a clothing shopping spree. I do not enjoy shopping, so I would also let her do it alone without me whining "mother, can we just go now~!"
I would give my mother-in-law a lot more free time. She is constantly busy-busy-busy. She needs some time off.
I would give myself a big break for mother's day, and a reassuring pat on the back that I'm doing this "Mom" thing a lot better than I think I am.
I would give my mother-in-law some Prozac!
Okay, I am just kidding. I just had to put that in after I unloaded on you all about my mother-in-law tales during the recent HTT discussion. I try to take the high road with her. She received flowers from my hubby and I today.
i would like to give you a lifetime supply of Dots, and how about an IV of Macayos hot sauce. That way you can skip the whole ordering and eating process- just let it go right in.
oh my goodness, hilari. sometimes i don't even know what my own wildest dream is until i read it.
let's get that iv going stat!
Happy First Mother's Day, Mrs. Dubs!
Just wanted you to know that Mr. Dubs recommended me to your Blog and I'm really enjoying it. I'm the loyal blog reader type, so you'll be hearing more from me soon. I really wanted to email/ post about inlaws and engagements (or rings, was it?) but you know how busy we've been with that Client!
Enjoy your day!
I bet you are an awesome mother to that sweet girl! I hope your deadbeat husband took care of you today.
