Weekend in Review

So I guess I’m supposed to write about my life on occasion.

Only problem is I recently misplaced it …

But I can tell you a little bit of what didn’t happen this holiday weekend:

* We didn’t attend the Easter Egg Hunt touted by our new church congregation as The Place to Be. Instead, we headed over to O’Hare airport to see Dr. Dub and his fam during their three-hour layover en route to Puerto Rico. (Why cruel fate, why?) This was fun because they’ve never seen Miss Dub. Also, because I’ve always wanted to sit on the floor in baggage claim for several hours. Seriously.

* We didn’t buy me a pair of skinny jeans. Mostly because I loathe their very core and am so disturbed by the fact that the one time I actually can buy pants in a smaller size, the only offerings boast a tapered leg.

* We didn’t have Easter dinner with the Aychs, mostly because the lovely Mrs. Aych is so painfully nauseous from her lastest pregnancy that she can’t stand, much less consume pork tenderloin, roasted potatoes and a pear and blue cheese salad.

* We didn’t find me an Easter outfit; although Miss Dub was looking super fabu in her velvet shrugged number seen above. Then again, you could put that girl in a paper bag and she would still look cute. (But don’t accidentally eat her … her resemblance to a ham sandwich is uncanny at times.)

* We didn’t put up any Easter decorations. Once again, I’m not a big holiday (or hoaky) person, although the creative pressure from the blogosphere did give me a little push to better my baskets. (I mean, to write the Easter Bunny and tell him that traditional Easter baskets are soo out.)

* We didn’t dye eggs on Saturday. We did, however, dye them on Sunday night. But despite my wannabe artistic tendencies, I finished my eggs and realized that 4 out of 6 of them had been dyed the same. Clearly, I have a thing for pink and purple stripes.

* We didn’t attend our regular church classes. Instead, we subbed in Primary (the children’s organization in our church), where the best response of the day came from a five-year-old who said, “When Jesus was a baby, Mary always had to say, ‘Let’s go change your poopy diaper!’” And it’s probably true.

* We didn’t spend Easter with our family. (Boo! Hiss!)
* We didn’t enjoy spring weather.
* We didn’t catch even the slightest glimpse of the Easter Bunny.

What didn’t you do this weekend?

A ham sandwich! Too funny. LOVE the frock! We did NOT spend the day with family. And we did not feel very happy about that.

We also did not spend time with family and did not feel happy about it. Mostly because when you spend a holiday with family, you're only assigned to bring ONE dish to the meal and if you're us, it's usually Jell-o.

I, personally, did not dye one egg I was proud of. Despite loads of inspiration and clever ideas from books, magazines, and blogs. (Darn that DesignMom to Heck!)

Biggest bummer: I didn't get to take an afternoon nap. Ouch!

I didn't get more than 4 hours of sleep on Saturday or Sunday nights. No, not because of a new baby. But because 2 of my 3 little gals were up puking. What I DID get to do this weekend was the ever-do-delightful middle of the night loads of laundry. I shouldn't complain too much though because I did get to spend Sunday with my family and, despite some vomit, had a pretty fantasic Easter.

Jamie beat me to it! I also didn't sleep much; the stomach flu is making its way through all the cousins... I suppose that's one drawback to seeing the cousins all the time! Also, the Easter Bunny didn't REMEMBER to hide the kids' dyed egss in the backyard, as is tradition at our house. I told the kids he must've known we have early church and wouldn't have time for a pre-church egg hunt. But I suspect that it's because the Easter Bunny also didn't get much sleep!

Luckily the kids weren't scarred for life since they had a delightful egg hunt at GiGi's house later (that's the kids' great-grandma).

I didn't get a chance to read your blog, which by the way I love. Glad to be back!

I don't decorate for holidays much either. In fact, most holiday decorations I have come from family members who completely re-decorate their homes for every. single. holiday. (I'm tired just typing that!) I realized Saturday night that I hadn't even thought about bringing out our Easter decorations...so I 'decorated' with our dyed eggs. I like decorations you can eat, less clean-up (especially when they come in the ham sandwich variety...what a doll you have!)

(oh, and wheat grass...a la Design Mom...wheat grass and dyed eggs, sufficient decoration in my book.)

For those who don't know, my sisters have already commented today (Jamie & Sara). That might make my list below a little easier to understand...

1. I did not have any puke to clean up (although it seems to be spreading like wildfire... and since we spent Easter with all of the cousins, I can only imagine what the next few days will bring in our home). 2. I did not have to make any food for our delcious Easter dinner, but only had to organize the egg hunt for the cousins. 3. I did not get much sleep because we were in the thick of negotiations for our new house (but I'll sleep tonight because WE GOT IT!). 4. For the first time in a few years, I did not have to spend Easter in the midwest, far away from the family. 5. Sadly, I did not take any pictures of my boys in their snazzy new Easter church clothes.

But I did have a wonderful Easter with great church meetings, great weather, a yummy dinner, lots of family around, and happy kids.
