Moving up ... and out

Miss Dub practicing her surprised look for Sunday
Remember that time when I was the funny, random blogger?

Well, according to this gal, I still am.

Yes, I’ve been honored by the lovely CJane, at whose feet I worship because of her charm, wit and red ruffled birthday ensemble.

OK, so all I did was write a silly entry in her guestbook. (And what she failed to mention was if I was selected from all the week’s entries or if I was the sole entrant and instant winner.)

I mean, it’s not like I haven’t won anything before. (I haven’t won anything before.)

What’s really important is that I’m about to win something this weekend. Seriously. It’s a little something called the HGTV Dream Home and it’s valued at 2.5 million Washingtons.

I did enter EVERY day with both mine and Mr. Dub’s personal info. And I have been doing this for the last THREE years of Dream Homes. I mean, what else can a gal do to get noticed in a random drawing?

The only catch is that my sister thinks she’s going to win. She’s even scheduled in some serious housecleaning before the big event so that her home will look presentable when they surprise her on live TV. This Sunday.

Think that’s crazy? Well, it’s not. I almost didn’t buy curtains for Miss Dub’s room the other day because we’ll be moving soon. (And coming into loads of expensive window coverings.) But thankfully I succumbed, resulting in much longer naps for the lil’ and me. Besides, they were cheap and I’m loaded soon.

To clarify, I don’t want to live in the house. I just want to sell it. Winter Park, Colorado just isn’t in the neighborhood of anything important, like work, family, friends or the ocean. It is, however, located in the general vicinity of snow. So count me out.

Plus, between sweepstake taxes and the sheer cost of keeping up kitschy country clutter … I just can’t afford it, even with all those Washingtons.

So if anyone wants to buy it from me, give me a ring.

Just don’t call on Sunday. I’ll be busy acting surprised when I win it.

That is funny because I SWEAR I will win it. I only made one lousy entry, but I am convinced it will be mine. I have had a strange feeling that there is a camera crew following me around the past few weeks. Or is that for "What not to Wear"?

I didn't enter this year because I just can't deal with the hassle of trying to figure out the taxes and putting the house up for sale. Next year is my year, I think.

you won choir and play auditions, editorial laurels, the tall guy with the curly hair, & lots of great friends - you won my heart on a late Spring day in DC and again in letters from Ecuador - and now Miss Dub wins it again with each new picture - with or without the house, you're rich, but good luck anyway (hope your sister's not reading)

PS to Leslie. Every time I read the interaction among the S & P girls, I'm thankful for that first efy, the various roomate years, and the blessing the Ps have been in the lives of the Ss. It's fun to watch the friendships continue to bloom even when you're spread all over the country.
