Play with your food

Sometimes you think you’re living a full life – family, friends, Target. Then, you find out about Bento blogs.

One of my readers -- who wishes to remain anonymous, but is cute, clever and creative (and very familiar to me) – tipped me off to a whole counterculture of bloggers who take daily photos of Bento boxes with cute contents.

Here’s the latest from a Japanese Bento blog:

You don’t have to speak Japanese to get the picture.

And here’s an English Bento blog:

Doesn’t your life feel fuller now?

I mean, they’re so cute.

Well, maybe not as cute as this:

i can't tell if you're joking or if if you just haven't eaten enough japanese food in your life. in case it's the latter, bento boxes are like japanese lunch boxes. they're also commonly served at japanese restaurants as a way to serve different dishes -- salad, chicken, rice, etc. -- at the same time. (kind of like japanese tapas. you do know what tapas are, right?)

Well, I held myself back the other day when I read this. Trying for a more sweet clean mouthed approach. But since Miss Em just said exactly what I was going to say minus three letters...thanks for the explanation. Here in the metro valley they serve our Japanese food on small trays or plates. Those look much more exciting. Especially if Omadoka made the food. I'll take the Miss Dub entree.

Dubs, I really heart Bento boxes and I think you should know. I would love Miss Dub my Bento box
(I am guessing she comes tempura-style?)
