Happy birthday to Mr. Are who is like an older, much bigger, brother -- and who may or may not be responsible for bringing Mr. Dub and I together, although Mrs. Are likes to take fate even farther back so she can get the credit. (And she may very well deserve it.)
Happy 2nd birthday to my Rhode Islander nephew who I haven't seen since he was an adorable, affectionate and chubbalicious 6-month old, although you and I can see him in his current glory here.
Happy crossing the trails and all that good stuff to Utah-bound pioneers! True, I do loathe overzealous pulpit-quoting from your journals, especially ones that only chronicle how many miles you covered each day, but you are an amazing example of courage and tenacity. And without you we would still be in Illinois -- wait a second -- and we wouldn't have that annoying refrain ... "as they walked and walked and walked and walked" in our heads each July 24th.
