It's a ....

Your guess is as good as mine. Apparently, I needed to call and request an ultrasound in order to find out my baby gender's today. Silly me, I figured that when the nurse said I'd be getting my "big 20-week appointment" that meant it would include the "big ultrasound." The doctor said everything about the baby appears to be healthy (based on our short discussion and a quick listen to the heartbeat) so he doesn't even need to do an ultrasound until 24 weeks, but that I could get one sooner if I wanted to. Needless to say, I scheduled an appointment for Monday. Still, I'm feeling like a total idiot because both of my doctors have acted like an ultrasound isn't necessarily required, even though all my friends seem to have had them and all the pregnancy books indicate that an ultrasound is standard around 20 weeks. And don't even mention the "gender" word to them. They act as though I'm the first person in the world who ever wanted to know that information and that it's highly unlikely to be revealed during the ultrasound. Am I crazy? How does this normally work, all you preggers out there? Am I being totally selfish? I do know that I'm being way too bitter since this is such a trivial thing and since I will hopefully be unveiling the mystery in a few days. But that's what I get for scheduling this appointment on my birthday. I figured I could shift the focus off my birthday (which I historically loathe for those who don't know me very well) and onto my bambino. Alas, there's always Monday! Any guesses?
