Windy City

To add to my current nausea, the building where I work is creaking and rocking due to some wicked winds that resulted in the following e-mail sent to all Evanston employees:

"Due to safety concerns, Evanston emergency personnel have closed off a section of Evanston's downtown from traffic and pedestrians. Winds have been clocked at 50-70 mph today and are predicted to subside by early Tuesday morning. Construction debris from the Sherman Plaza development has created dangerous conditions with falling and flying materials. One person received minor injuries from debris. Cars have also been hit by falling rubble. Visitors to Evanston's downtown are asked to avoid this area until the strong winds subside and emergency personnel open the area."

The funny part is Chicago got the nickname "Windy City" for its blustering politicians and not for any actual gusts. But today's weather proves it's a double entendre.
