Last night, there was a really big snowstorm that left us with lots and lots of snow. Now, while I'm normally one to complain about snow or the cold or cold snow, I found myself pleasantly happy about the white stuff. Maybe because this January has been unseasonably warm. Maybe because I felt cheated at Christmas when Utah had record high temps. Or maybe I'm just acclimating to the weather out here. (Or maybe someone has been slipping me narcotics that produce a snow-loving high. In which case, thank you.)
Whatever the reason, what's really beautiful about this snow storm is that it was followed by a sunny day, complete with a blue sky that is so crystal clear and crisp that it seems more sincere. Yet, several inches of snow still sit atop the barren tree branches, turning each tree into a wedding cake. Plus, as the sunshine began to take its toll, the snow began to slowly drip off in large drops. For a moment, it seemed like frosting was falling from a clear sky.
Snow can be magical.
